YouTube Volume Booster

YouTube audio varies enormously because anyone can upload anything: a professionally mastered music video and a phone-recorded vlog sit side by side in the same player. When a video is genuinely quiet at the source, the player slider cannot help — but capturing the tab and amplifying it can.

Boost a YouTube tab

Open your video in another tab and start playback, then press Capture tab audio and remember to tick the share audio option.

Drop an audio or video file here, or choose one. It is processed on your device and never uploaded.

Tab audio capture needs Chrome or Edge on desktop. File boosting works everywhere.

Processed on your device — nothing is uploaded. Loud audio can damage hearing: lower your system volume before boosting, then raise it gradually.

Why YouTube videos differ so much in volume

YouTube applies loudness normalization to uploads, turning down content that is mastered very loud so that playback is more consistent. What it does not do is turn quiet content up. A video recorded at a low level stays quiet, because raising it would amplify the noise floor along with the content.

This asymmetry is why the variation feels one-sided: loud videos are pulled toward the target, quiet ones are left where they are. Amplifying at your end is the only remaining option, and it is what the tool above does.

Check these before boosting

The player slider
YouTube remembers its own volume level separately from your system, and it is easy to leave it low.
Quality setting
Very low quality settings use lower-bitrate audio which can sound thinner, though not usually quieter.
Windows app volume
Your browser may be set low in the volume mixer. See browser volume too low.
Stereo mix in a 5.1 source
Concert and film uploads folded down from surround often have quiet dialogue. The voice booster helps more than plain gain.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a YouTube video louder than 100%?

Capture the tab in Chrome or Edge using the console above and raise the gain. This applies amplification after the player output, so it goes beyond what YouTube's own slider permits.

Does boosting YouTube reduce quality?

Moderate boosting is transparent. Heavy boosting engages the limiter and reduces dynamic range, and it also raises any encoding noise present in the source.

Can I boost YouTube on my phone?

Not through a browser — tab capture is desktop-only. Raising system media volume and disabling any media volume limit is the practical route on mobile.
