Android Volume Too Low

Android keeps separate volume levels for media, calls, ringtone, notifications and alarms. A great many "Android is too quiet" cases are simply the wrong stream being adjusted — pressing volume up on the home screen changes the ringtone, not media.

Most common causes

Adjusting the wrong stream
Expand the volume panel with the arrow or three-dot icon and move the media slider specifically.
Media volume limit
Settings › Sounds and vibration › Volume › three-dot menu. Often enabled by default.
Absolute Bluetooth volume
If it is only quiet on wireless, this is the cause. Disable it in Developer options.
Do Not Disturb or a focus mode
