Microsoft Edge Volume Booster

Edge is built on Chromium, so it shares Chrome's ability to capture and boost tab audio. It also adds a few Edge-specific surfaces — a global media control panel and per-site sound permissions — that are worth knowing about when audio is quieter than expected.

Processed on your device — nothing is uploaded. Loud audio can damage hearing: lower your system volume before boosting, then raise it gradually.

Edge-specific things to check

The media control flyout
When audio plays, a media icon appears in the toolbar with playback controls for each tab. It is easy to leave something paused or muted there.
Per-site sound permissions
Settings › Cookies and site permissions › Media autoplay and Sound. A site blocked here stays silent regardless of volume.
Efficiency mode
On battery, Edge may throttle background tabs, which can cause stuttering that is easy to mistake for a volume problem.
Windows volume mixer
Edge has its own level, separate from Chrome and from the system master. Check it under Windows volume booster.

Tab capture in Edge

The process matches Chrome exactly: start playback in the target tab, press Capture tab audio in the console above, choose the Edge tab in the picker, and enable the share audio option before confirming.

Frequently asked questions

Is Edge quieter than Chrome on the same PC?

They should be identical, since they share an audio pipeline. If one is quieter, it is almost certainly the Windows volume mixer holding a different level for each application.

Do Chrome volume extensions work in Edge?

Most do — Edge accepts extensions from the Chrome Web Store once you allow it. But tab capture makes an extension unnecessary for boosting.
